Write for us
Western Rugby Journal welcomes clear, original contributions that help readers understand rugby union. Send a proposal through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article unless we have requested one.
What we welcome
Pitch explainers about a law, role, tactical idea, format or match pattern. A strong proposal identifies the reader’s question, states the central explanation and shows how the piece will make the idea understandable without relying on specialist knowledge.
A useful pitch
Keep the proposal focused on one subject and explain why it merits its own article. Note the context or format involved, define any technical terms you expect to use, and say what reference material would support claims that need checking. Avoid pitches that depend on access, confidential information, unsupported statistics or a claim to speak for a whole team or community.
Sending a proposal
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option or describe your pitch in the message. Include a proposed title, a short outline and any relevant writing samples you choose to share. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for clarification before considering it.
